How I became a Beatlemaniac

In 2020, I watched The Queen’s Gambit. The show, set in the 1960s, instantly pulled me in — not just for the story, but for the atmosphere, the aesthetics, and especially the music. I started digging deeper into that era. And of course, when you explore the ’60s, you eventually run into The Beatles.
At the time, I knew them, like everyone does. I had heard the hits, seen the imagery — but it was all distant. Their songs were just part of the cultural wallpaper. I didn’t think much about it… until Get Back.
The documentary didn’t just reintroduce me to The Beatles: it pulled me in completely. I hadn’t truly listened to their music before. Not like that. Suddenly, I was watching the songwriting happen in real time, hearing the arguments, the laughter, the tension.
It wasn’t just music anymore. It was a story of four human beings, each navigating change, legacy, and uncertainty. It made them feel more real, and at the same time, even more remarkable.
